National Voters' day is being observed on 25th January. The objective of the day is to increase enrolment of voters, especially of the newly eligible ones. The day is also utilized to spread awareness among voters regarding effective participation in the electoral process.
25th January is also the foundation day of the Election Commission, which came into being on this day in 1950. The Election Commission of India has appealed people to Join them in celebrating this day by taking the National Voters' Day Pledge.
To mark the day, Election Commission and Facebook announced rolling out a new feature on the Facebook that will send a reminder to users aged 18 years and above to take the pledge to vote.
