NARI and e-SAMVAD portals inaugurated by Maneka Gandhi
Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi launched a web portal NARI, which will provide information on all government schemes for women.
The portal carries details on 350 different central schemes for women and will be updated from time to time. The Minister also unveiled a website called e- SAMVAD which is an interactive portal allowing NGOs to contact the ministry.
Both Central and State Government has implemented a number of schemes legislation for women to provide them equal rights, economic opportunities, social support, legal aid, housing etc. However, there is often a lack of awareness of these provisions and difficulties in accessing their benefits.
NARI portal summarizes over 350 government schemes and other important information for the benefit of women. Maneka Gandhi also launched e-Samvad portal, where NGOs and civil society can provide their feedback, suggestions, put up grievances, share best practices . This will help in the formulation of effective policies and measures for the welfare of women and children.
On this occasion, Maneka Gandhi also highlighted the goals of the ministry of women and child development for 2018:
-National nutrition mission will be launched in 315 districts
-'Beti bachao, beti padhao' will be extended to all districts
-' Pradhanmantri matri vandan program' will be implemented in all the districts
-Anti-trafficking bill will be presented in the budget session
-Child care institutions will be linked with adoption system
-'Panic button' on mobile phones will be started from up on 26 January
-Will be implemented in the whole country
-Childline 1098 will be extended to 500 cities from the existing 412
-Railway childline will be extended to 88 stations from the present 33 railway stations
-150 new 'Sakhi' - one-stop centres will be opened
-Amendments to the existing laws will be done on the issue of NRI marriages
