Government forms task force to tackle pollution issue in Delhi-NCR
A task force has been set up under the chairmanship of the Principal Secretary (Nripendra Misra) to the Prime Minister to tackle the issue of air pollution in Delhi- NCR, the government said. The NHRC (National Human Rights Commission) had sent notices to the Centre and the governments of Delhi, Punjab, and Haryana in view of "life-threatening" pollution levels in Delhi and in the National Capital Region (NCR) in November.
The task force has set up a sub-committee headed by Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, to come up with an action plan to tackle the issue of stubble burning.
