Charminar selected under phase-II of Swachh Iconic Places programme
The historic monument and heart of the city, Charminar, will be all cleaned up soon as part of phase-II of the Central government’s initiative Swachh Iconic Places. A total of 100 iconic places across the country are set to be cleaned up under the programme. Total 10 icons are selected under phase-II of this programme.The programme is part of the Central government’s Swachh Bharat Mission. Each of the iconic places to be cleaned up will be supported by one public sector unit (PSU) for additional financing, technical and managerial needs. The Public Sector Unit will assist under corporate social responsibility programme. The National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC) has been announced as the PSU partner to support the Charminar clean-up project.
****PSU partner: National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC) Other selected monuments: Apart from Charminar other nine are Gangotri, Yamunotri, Mahakaleshwar temple, Church and Convent of St. Francis of Assisi, Kaladi in Ernakulam, Gomateshwar in Shravanbelgola, Baijnath Dham, Gaya in Bihar and Somnath temple in Gujarat.
