Telangana government announced Food processing policy
The Telangana government announced Telangana Food Processing Policy.
Main objective of the policy: Double farmers' annual income from the existing average Rs 1.25 lakh in the next few years
Policy duration: Five years
Expected investments:  Rs 20,000 investments
Expected employment generation: 1.2 lakh employment in the state.
The state government signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) at World Food India conference attracting investments worth Rs 7,250 crore in New Delhi.
AgtiTech fund: The policy is also proposed to have an AgriTech fund for promoting startups in the food processing sector.
This policy aimed at interlink the food processing sector with agriculture, horticulture, aquaculture, dairy, meat and other food production sectors for improving the income of farmers
District specific processing industries: State government has been taking measures to promote district-specific processing industries:
  • Spices park in Nizamabad
  • Sugarcane in Medak
  • Sweet citrus fruits in Nalgonda
Four new mega food parks have already been cleared by the Centre in the state.
